Alumni Updates: Benjamin Gouttard

Cesar Santos Wins Again!






Academy of Realist Art, Boston has finished hosting its second annual Figure Painting Competition and has announced Angel Academy of Art, Florence alumnusCesar Santos, as the grand prize, and viewer's choice, winner! 

The competition spanned over five days with ten big name artists from all over the world. Santos's winning painting is pictured below:

Savannah Cuff Wins Grand Prize of GCA's Figure Drawing Competition





Angel Academy alumna Savannah Tate Cuff, who is in her second-year of post-graduate work at Jacob Collins's Grand Central Atelier in New York City, has taken home the $10,000 grand prize of the aforementioned atelier's annual figure drawing competition. 

The competition had eleven participants that drew the live model for 40 hours in the span of just five days. GCA founder and renowned artist, Jacob Collins was the primary judge of the competition. Also judging was Jordan Sokol, the academic director of The Florence Academy of Art in the United States, and Katie Wipple, a GCA alumna - each great teachers and painters in their own right

Opening of "Dignity Through Art" Exhibition

Monday night was the opening of "Dignity Through Art" at the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which featured local artists who sought to highlight the needs of those marginalized, homeless or needy people in Florence to tell their stories and honour their essential human dignity. The show will run from 16/05 to 26/05.
The Angel Academy was represented well by students and teachers alike! John Skelcher, Yang Ying, James Tucker, Ashish Patel, Hayley Brown, Masako Kazue, and Stephen Citynskyj all made work for the exhibit. It was a packed house - great show everyone!!

Inga Loyeva at the Red Victorian










On February 20th this year, Inga Loyeva attended Middle Circle's second quarterly gathering of artists, scholars, and professionals intended at The Red Victorian in San Francisco, California.


Loyeva painted a portrait along side internationally acclaimed concert pianist & composer Stephen Prutsman.

Francis O'Toole selected for Royal Hibernian Academy's Exhibition




Angel Academy alumnus Francis O'Toole's painting Allegory of the Cave (oil on linen, 215 x 135 cm.) has been selected for this year's Royal Hibernian Academy's 186th Annual Exhibition in Dublin. The exhibition will run from March to June.

Bravo, Francis!! It's a powerful painting.

Michele Prezioso: Still Lifes and Exhibition



Recent Angel Academy graduate, Michele Prezioso, completed the program last trimester, finishing the program with these still lifes. Bravo, Michele!

Prezioso will open an exhibition of his work in Formia, Italia on the 13th and 14th of February at the Molàs Tower. It is open to the public all day on both days, if you're in the neighborhood be sure to check it out!

Christina Mastrangelo wins the Knohl Award



Angel Academy alumna Christina Mastrangelo is featured in the great ARC Salon show at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. Her triptych was the winner of the Knohl Award from the ARC International Salon Competition and was on display in Barcelona at the MEAM. It is being shown at the Salmagundi Club until Feb. 4th.

Bruno Galuzzi's People's Choice Award




Our alumnus Bruno Galuzzi won the prestigious People's Choice Award in the 2015 Canadian Portrait Competition, given by the Portrait Society of Canada.

The winner of the 1st prize was Albert Stark, who studied under maestro Michael John Angel many years ago.

Rishab Sud's Exhibition in New Delhi



Articles featuring AAA Alumnus, Rishab Sud's latest exhibition in New Delhi was in the National Newspapers: Millennium Post and The Asian Age. The show was at Gallery 1AQ, from the 21st to the 25th of November and featured 50 portraits in charcoal and oil paint.

Alumni Updates: Shane Wolf and Rishabh Sud


Angel Academy alumnus Shane Wolf’s painting from his Songs of Sagesse triptych (100 x 195 cm.) will be part of the ARC Purchase Award travelling exhibition. This starts at the Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona (Nov. 17th to Dec. 28th) and finishes at the prestegious Salmagundi Club in New York City (Jan. 18th to Feb. 4th). For those who do not know it: the Museum of Modern Art is an international Modern Realist museum.

There is a new article in GoAir airline's magazine, Go Getter, on AAA alumnus Rishabh SudGo Getter is a national magazine, read throughout India.


Rishabh has been building a successful portrait business in India and has received a major commission from the Maharaja Hanuwant Singh of Nabha to create portraits of his great-great-grandfather, the Maharaja Hira Singh, in the traditional Indian manner. This and other such portraits are featured in the article.
