Katie is on the Memphis College of Art Presidents List, the honor roll for graduate students, and will graduate this May with a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting & Drawing.
Katie's Thesis is titled, The Effects of Air Pollution in Beijing, China:A Visual Discussion.
This thesis is centered on the realities of how the high levels of air pollution in Beijing has impacted the daily lives of its residents, and is depicted in a series of oil paintings representing the air pollution in Beijing.
The painting style is strongly influenced by JW Turner and J Whistler to create an appropriate misty effect, combining the painting techniques of the Angel Academy and glazing. Runny has heavily researched Turner and Whistler to accurately create a smoggy atmosphere.
The show will be in the Marshall Arts Gallery from April 7 - 28 in Memphis, Tennessee!
Congratulations on your hard work and your exhibit, Katie!!!
