Death of Sir George Martin
On March 8, 2016 Sir George Henry Martin CBE passed away in Wiltshire, UK. Sir George was an English record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, audio engineer and musician. He is most recognized for signing The Beatles and produced more than 700 records. He also worked with artists including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dame Shirley Bassey and Cilla Black.
Born January 3rd, 1926, Sir George Henry Martin CBE was one of the greatest record producers and arrangers of all time. Considered by many to be the "Fifth Beatle", Sir George and the Fab Four created music history by reinventing Pop Music. His relaxed, open mind and technical expertise allowed the Beatles to experiment and indulge in their wildest and most elaborate ideas.
Sir George bought a still life from one of our students, Anthony Velasquez, at the Angel Academy's London show in 2000.
