Passing of Dr. Gerald Ackerman

We’ve just heard Gerald Ackerman, the art historian who wrote Jean-Leon Gérôme and Charles Bargue: Drawing Course, died a few days ago.

Dr. Ackerman had been ill for a some time and we’re sorry to see him go. He was a unique historian who studied with the intent of learning what artists actually concern themselves with while painting. Rest in peace, Dr. Ackerman, you will be sorely missed.
